Pharmacists

Our pharmacist advises the doctors on a range of prescribing issues. This may include reviewing a patient's medication regime and recommending changes to the doctor.

Community Midwives

Midwives are allocated depending on which area you are living in. They provide ante-natal and post-natal care and can offer advice and details of relaxation classes and parent craft.  The reception team will be able to provide you with a contact number for a midwife in your locality.

Community Nurses

Our community nursing team provides nursing services to patients confined to their homes. They are based in the health centre and collect any messages or calls from our reception team several times a day. Please ask at reception if you require their care.

Community Matrons

This service is available for patients with a serious long term condition or those with a complex range of conditions. Our community matrons work closely with the doctor and the patient to plan and organise care. They provide a single point of contact to provide support and advice for patients and their families and to co-ordinate health and social needs.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

If you are unsure who your health visitor is please contact the main reception in the health centre on 01642 704200.

Counsellors

The practice can offer a range of counselling services:

  • Short term counselling therapy to assist with a wide range of problems. There are times for most of us when we find it difficult to cope with life, i.e., memories from the past, painful events in the present and worries about the future.  Appointments are available by GP referral.
  • Our Cognitive Behaviour Therapist is available to help patients experiencing anxiety disorders, phobias, depression and other problems. Your doctor will refer you if necessary.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

CPNs provide specialised advice to patients and families in their homes at the GPs request and are based at Clifton House in Thornaby.
